Something to Think About

I am sitting here today, just thinking about life in general. For the past week I have listened to an audio program by Anthony Robbins called “Personal Power II.” Today’s part was about the beliefs each of us has and how they affect our lives every single day. If you take a step back and really think about the beliefs you have, and your life in general, some interesting ideas will surface. The idea of looking back on my life and having regrets scares me. At this point, depending on what you believe, you have one shot on this planet to do it right. I’m not here to question anyone’s beliefs or force mine onto you. Just think about it for a second. Would you want to look back on your life and say, “What if” or “I wish I did that?” This applies to every single aspect of your life not just exercise.
Every person has beliefs and values that affect the decisions we make on a daily basis. Some of these are beneficial, while others create problems. My issue is the beliefs people have that negatively affect every aspect of their lives. The thoughts like “I’m not smart enough,” “I’m not attractive enough,” or “Nobody likes me.” I guarantee everyone in the world has some belief that is hurting the quality of their life. Why should we live by these ridiculous ideas that we create in our own heads? Or if someone tells you one of these phrases, why do we care? On some level almost everyone has a desire to be accepted, but the thoughts of one person, or the imaginary thoughts you create shouldn’t shape your entire life.
It is so important to avoid letting these thoughts and ideas prevent you from doing things in your life that mean something to you. Don’t let the idea that you may not be attractive keep you from talking to someone of the opposite sex. Don’t let the thought that you aren’t smart enough keep you from going after the job of your dreams. The worst that can happen with most of these scenarios in life is someone saying no. That is just a two letter word. Why does that word carry so much power, keeping people from doing so much?
The negative beliefs that people have can cripple them. There is so much to accomplish and achieve in this life. Everyone should be happy, loved, successful, and all the other things people want in life. Everyone can have these things as long as you are willing to keep a positive outlook and take a step in the right direction everyday.
I think it is so important for people to stop making excuses and having these limiting beliefs. If you are unhappy with the way you look, first, be happy with the way you are now, secondly, do something to improve it. What good does it do to be depressed everyday, but never doing anything about it? Everyday is another opportunity to do something great. Take full advantage of the fact that you are alive.
I know I have put a lot of emphasis on these ideas in the past. That shows how important it is to me. No one will ever produce change and lead the life they want if they haven’t mastered their own thoughts and actions. I am glad that people come to me with the desire to get in shape, but if there are other deeper thoughts and ideas about yourself, the better body you are striving for won’t change anything.
So, today, evaluate all of the potentially limiting beliefs you have and how they are affecting your life. Take the initiative to change whatever beliefs aren’t allowing you to live the life of your dreams. You, and only you can change your life for the better. You are capable of more than you will ever know. Don’t live a life of regret. Become the person that you have always wanted to be. Nothing can stand in your way except youself. Good luck, liveout your destiny.
